Dismantling Furniture as Part of a Removal
A wardrobe may be too tall for the staircase. A bed frame may not turn through the landing. Office desks may need to be separated before they will leave the room. TT Removals can include dismantling and reassembly of suitable furniture when it forms part of a booked house, office, storage or care move around Bradford, Halifax, Calderdale and nearby Huddersfield.
This is not a standalone flat-pack assembly or handyman service. The purpose is to make agreed furniture safe and practical to move with Craig’s two-person team and Luton van. Keeping that boundary avoids promising building work that the business does not offer.
What Can Usually Be Assessed?
Bed frames, removable table legs, some freestanding wardrobes, modular shelving and straightforward office desks are common examples. Suitability depends on the construction, condition, fixings and access. Furniture that has already been rebuilt several times may be weaker than it looks, especially chipboard items where screw holes have worn.
Send clear photographs of the whole item, the joints or fittings, and the route out of the property. If the maker’s instructions are available, keep them with the furniture. Craig can then allow sensible time in the removal quote and flag anything that may not survive dismantling.
Fixings, Labels and the Rebuild
Small fixings are easy to lose during a move. Where dismantling is agreed, screws and fittings should be kept together and labelled for the item. Shelves, doors and panels can also be marked so they return to the correct position. The customer should point out existing damage or missing parts before work begins.
Reassembly means putting the suitable item back together in the destination room using its existing parts. It does not include repairing damaged furniture, replacing missing fixings, modifying panels or guaranteeing that weakened flat-pack material will hold again. If the new room has lower ceilings or a different layout, check the dimensions before moving day.
Work That Is Not Included

Fitted wardrobes, kitchens or permanently fixed cabinetry
Wall mounting, drilling into the property or making structural alterations
Gas, plumbing or electrical disconnection and reconnection
Repairs, carpentry or replacement of damaged components
TT Removals also does not provide packing. Drawers, loose shelves and personal contents need to be emptied and packed before the team starts. This makes the furniture lighter and prevents loose belongings being trapped or damaged.
Why It Must Be Included in the Original Quote
Dismantling can change the duration of the move considerably. A bed with accessible bolts is different from a large wardrobe with dozens of panels. Discovering the need on moving day may affect the loading plan or make the agreed schedule impossible. Mention every item at the enquiry stage rather than assuming there will be time.
For house moves, this work can be added to the planned house-removal quote. It can also support a small office move or a sensitive care-home move where familiar furniture is going to the new room.
Practical Cover and Limits
TT Removals carries goods-in-transit cover up to £10,000 and public liability cover, subject to the policy terms. Insurance does not turn unsuitable or already damaged furniture into a safe dismantling job, so condition must be discussed honestly. The van has no tail lift; specialist or exceptionally heavy items may need another provider.
